DEI Manager
Job Summary
The DEI Manager is a member of the Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team. The DEI Manager serves as a valuable contributor of the DEI team and will help drive the progress of DEI strategies and objectives.
Job Responsibilities
• Help with implementation of DEI strategy and tactics aligned to our core values, business goals and desired outcomes.
• Champion diversity and inclusion awareness across Assurant.
• Partner across enterprise with HR Business Partners, Learning and Development, Talent Acquisition, Corporate Social responsibility, Marketing, and Communications, to achieve desired D&I outcomes.
• Develop and maintain network with external experts and peers in other organizations to stay informed on DEI trends and best practices
• Engage with community groups and external organizations that align to Assurant's DEI strategy
70% Of the Time
• Manage Assurant's five Employee Resources Groups (ERGs) - acts as primary contact for ERG programs, administrative support including maintaining documentation (meeting notes, follow-up actions), scheduling of meetings and tracking next steps as well as ensuring ERG SharePoint sites are current, addressing issues, formulation of governing documents and management of ERG committees, working with stakeholder departments (i.e. Communications, Legal, People Organization) and completes from review and through execution of implementation schedules. Attend ERG meetings and provide guidance on ERG goals, programming, and communications.
• Help support ERG Roundtable as well as overall ERG event programming; support with administration of ERG leadership recruitment, on-boarding and leadership team transitions
• Work with HR data analytics on ERG data reporting
• Administer and manage DEI surveys and external benchmarks, e.g., HRC CEI, Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, Disability:IN Disability Equality Index, and collaborate with internal stakeholders on survey process as well as survey responses. This includes reviewing survey questions for annual changes, distribute questions among subject matter experts for updated responses, aggregate feedback with support from DEI team and help to submit agreed upon responses. Communicate areas requiring improvement to relevant internal partners, work as liaison to stakeholder groups and DEI team, and collaborate with communications/marketing teams on news articles where appropriate.
• Independently draft DEI communications for leadership approval.
• Works in support of the DEI leadership team to build and manage relationships with external DEI strategic partner organizations and help with maintaining and building DEI relationships; communicate with internal teams, including Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development on strategic partner organizational needs and opportunities; track and document strategic partnership needs and progress.
• Supports general DEI best practice research and external benchmarking where appropriate; leads smaller DEI projects and or aspects of projects.
• Leads internal stakeholder and partner meetings to ensure objectives are achieved.
• Create PowerPoint decks and other DEI materials to support various DEI initiatives and reporting.
• Reviews annual DEI training content to ensure it aligns with best practice content with the support of DEI team.
• Escalates employee complaints when/if they arise during DEI sessions and ensure proper documentation is accompanied and hand-off to appropriate groups for further investigation.

• Works independently under guidance of a leader to plan and organize DEI objectives and assist with strategy (including but not limited to responses to surveys, and internal inquiries).
• Identifies and understands changes in DEI trends that may result in a negative impact and with minimal assistance, make recommendations for response or change.
• Supports DEI team members in the implementation and ongoing execution of ERG strategy.
Maintain and update DEI files and documents in DEI Teams site.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree
• 4+ years of experience in a corporate environment, with strong organizational and project management skills, including capable of creating, communicating and managing a project plan, tracking progress and keeping stakeholders informed; preferably with 1+ year of experience in Diversity and Inclusion and/or experience in Human Resources, Consulting, Communications or Marketing.
• 1+ year of experience analyzing data in Excel strongly preferred
• 1+ year of experience creating communications (Word/PPT) to engage stakeholders strongly preferred

• Fluency in data analysis to inform strategies and create metrics and accountability for effective, inclusive business outcomes
• Strong presentation creation and delivery skills; ability to present information in a clear, concise manner
• An inherent sense of urgency to drive great results, while being precise in executing work
• Proven track record of building relationships with and influencing stakeholders and cross-functional team
• Proven ability to lead conversations will broad audiences and navigate crucial conversations regarding underrepresented communities, privilege, and equity
• Proven record of taking initiative/self-starter
• Ability to work in a highly ambiguous environment

Pay Range:
$84,100.00 - $140,500.00
Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
